Nurses Notes – TCNA Spring Newsletter

“Nurses Notes”

from the Tamworth Community Nurse Association

It’s that time of year again. You’re invited to the TCNA Annual Meeting! Our guest speaker will be Dennis McCullough MD author of  “My Mother, Your Mother”.  Dr. McCullough will cover the topic of “What’s the right thing to do for mom or dad as they get older?”  In addition, music will be provided by Becky Ver Plank and as always, snacks and blueberry ice cream will be served.  So, mark your calendars for Wednesday, August 21st at 6:30 pm to be at the Brass Heart Inn.

We’ve Had Some Visitors!

Last month, TCNA had a visit from Steve Rowe, the new President of The Endowment for Health as well as the opportunity to meet with two of our State Reps, Susan Ticehurst and Laurie Harding.  Rep. Harding is the Vice-Chair of the Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs Committee and is also a nurse. Our visitors had read and been impressed with the results of our recent UNH study. They wanted to learn more about our organization as a health care model. Capping costs while making healthcare more accessible is high on the priority list for all of our visitors.  We appreciate them taking the time out of their busy schedules to come and get to know us.

Yard Sales for TCNA

We have a new fundraising idea and we need your help.  Would you be willing to be a part of a town wide yard sale event on June 1st and donate a portion of the proceeds to TCNA?  We hope to find at least 25 households willing to do so. We would like to thank the Ham Foundation which has generously awarded us a matching grant of proceeds earned by the yard sales!. All you have to do is: Run a yard sale at your home or in your neighborhood from 9-2 on Sat., June 1st (rain date June 2nd.) TCNA will: Send out press releases, advertise the town-wide event and provide signage. Need to clear some clutter while benefitting a great cause?  You choose the amount you donate, 50%, 75% or 100% and of course your donation is tax-deductible. Please call us at 323-8511 and let us know you would like to participate.
