Learn How to Prevent ‘Slips, Trips and Falling Down’

Betsy Donovan, PT, presents next ‘Get Healthy Tamworth!’ program

Falls are an all too common occurrence and millions of adults are affected each year. Falls cause injury, loss of confidence, loss of independence, are one of the leading causes of nursing home admissions, and are even responsible for increased risk of premature death. Falls are largely preventable, and the key to prevention is knowledge.

On Saturday, Oct. 17, from 10 to 11 a.m.  at the Tamworth Lyceum, the Tamworth Community Nurse Association will host Betsy Donovan, president of Mountain Center, a Physical Therapy, Health and Human Performance Company with locations in Conway, Glen and Fryeburg, Maine, who will present, “Slips, Trips, and Falling Down.”

Learn about the risk factors of falls, some of which will surprise you, and learn what you can do to take charge of your health, safety and well-being. The program is one of TCNA’s “Get Healthy Tamworth!” series of monthly programs at The Lyceum in Tamworth Village.

For more information on any of TCNA’s programs, call the office at 323-8511 or email tamworthnurses@yahoo.com. Visit the Tamworth Exchange or the TCNA website, tamworthnurses.org, for reminders of dates and meeting places.
